Heritage Turkey – this was SO TASTY. If you have the chance, get a heritage bird this year. The difference in depth of flavor was astounding and borderline revolutionary. As with the gravy we served it with, it was prepared it the style of Mark Bittman. (Check out Bittman’s gravy here. Incidentally, it was some the best gravy I’ve ever had)

Pumpkin Spice Cake with Gingersnap Crust – I was a little nervous to try this due to the odd ingredients and the nature of the crust, but it turned out spectacularly flavored and tasty enough that I may make it again for Christmas.

Biscuit Crusted Gluten-free apple pie – I wish I had the recipe for this – I know Bob’s Red Mill Biscuit mix was used in conjunction with lard for the crust, and the apples were dusted with gluten-free flour and cinnamon before poured into the pie. What kind of rocked about this recipe is that the crust can also be enjoyed with gravy in the morning for breakfast  – meaning an effortless breakfast of apple pie with biscuits and gravy! Decadent. +5 pounds.
